Vintage Japanese woodblock print by Ito Sozan titled "Bird on Berry." Published by Shima Art Company on mulberry paper. Sozan's name is written in pencil on the mounting board. Print measures 7¼” x 4¾” tipped onto an 11” x 8” mounting board. One corner of the mounting board is missing. A green mat (11” x 8½” with an opening of 8⅜” x 5⅜”) is included.
Sozan Ito (1884 - ?) was a print artist known for his Shin Hanga designs, particularly kacho-e (bird-and-flower pictures). This print is likely a later publication by Shima Art Company, possibly a variant of the Watanabe edition titled “Bird on a Snow-Covered Nanten Bush.” BRS
