Locks open and close easily. (I will leave it up to someone more knowledgeable to clean it properly). <br><br>NOTE: We are selling this as part of my Dad's estate. He was a machinist for more than 50 years and this was part of his tools in his machine shop. Feel free to ask questions (or provide info if I have described something inaccurately), however, I cannot answer technical questions regarding these tools other than basic, visual observations. <br><br>
