FMMH actively works towards shifting societal perceptions and ensuring equal rights for persons with disabilities through:
Public Awareness Campaigns: Active Nationwide initiatives such as “Beyond Labels: Embracing Inclusion” which was catered to architects of Mauritius, to challenge stigma and promote positive narratives around disability as well as accessibility.
Community Workshops: Sensitisation sessions in schools, local councils, private organisation on accessibility, disability rights, and inclusive behaviour.
Corporate Training: Customised programs for employers on inclusive hiring practices, accessibility in the workplace, and respectful communication.
Policy Advocacy: Direct involvement in drafting and reviewing national disability policies and collaborating with institutions like TEDPB and Inclusion Mauritius to drive systemic change.
Legal Rights Education: Informative sessions to empower PWDs with knowledge of their legal protections and available support systems. Offer free legal advice and support with accompaniment of discrimination cases.
Media Engagement: Aiming to have regular features in newspapers, TV, and radio to amplify disability voices and success stories.
